GAME OVER
Good bye 2010 Crossfit games, hello hound walks, bike rides and outdoor swims. Home from LA and glad the Games are finally over. My luck finally ran out and the wods did not work to my favour this time – I knew this was bound to happen. On the upside I was glad to be able to complete all the movements. I had never done a muscle up where I had to jump to get into the rings and I had never been able to do a pistol unassisted – so pretty stoked to break out those movements with less than a half hour each to practice and warm up for. Here are the highlights and lowlights from the weekend (no particular order):
Highlights
* Free shoes from Inov8
* Opportunity to compete as an individual
* Hanging with LTP between wods
* Meeting/hanging with all the athletes
* All the help and support from Jefff
* Having so many people there cheering me on
* Realizing I can do a pistol
* Whole Foods
* Venice Beach
* Dinners at the mansion
* Not having to do the last event – would have died on the rope. Seriously!
* The number of people interested in Hound Pound T-shirts
* Sunday night BBQ with all my favourite CrossFitters
Lowlights
* Learning the first wod and having 10 minutes to warm-up/prepare for it
* Learning the second wod and having 15 minutes to warm-up/prepare for it
* Learning the third wod and scrabbling to figure out pistols
* Tearing up my hands in wod 2 and slipping off the bar from all the blood
* Having at least 20 KBS not count in wod 2
* Having my wod 3 lift score documented incorrectly on the final score sheet,
which would have moved me up one place in the final ranking
* Losing my Canadian Regionals T-shirt – loved that shirt!
* Hanging out with the cleaning lady on Friday and not being there to watch
the team wods
* Not having more free time to enjoy LA – especially the pool and the ocean!
All in all, it was a good experience. I’m glad I was given the opportunity to compete. Another check mark on life’s list of accomplishments. Team comp will be next on the list. Watch out for the Hound Pound team next year. Pictures from the weekend to come.
