WELL DONE ATHLETES!

Yesterday was a big day at the Hound Pound. Bruce and Lucy competed in the Basset Hound Olympics, and several Hound Pound athletes competed in the first OPT challenge for the 2011 Games year. Everyone gave everything they had, and you can't ask for anything more than that. Good times and scores were had by all!

BASSET HOUND OLYMPICS
Bruce - focused and ready to run
The 5th annual Bassethound Olympics was a hound of a success. Over 100 hounds came out along with their family and friends to support the Bassethound Rescue Foundation and to compete in the events. Lots of money was raised and donated to the Foundation for Bassethounds to be rescued and placed in loving homes. If you don't already have a hound, I highly suggest adopting one - go here to see hounds looking for families. The wods kicked off in the morning with a hound measure - longest ears, lowest belly, longest body. Next was the hound high jump, then the hound sprint, hound trick and loudest hound. Bruce and Lucy had a great showing, but the competition was fierce. Lucy had a great performance in the high step, and Bruce took second pace in a photo finish of the hound sprint. Well done hounds!

Do I have something on my face?

OPT CHALLENGE #1
As like the Bassethound Olympics the OPT Challenge #1 was a success. Hound Pound athletes represented, and lots of money was raised for Aaron Grider's family (RIP). I'd also like to thank all the Hound Pound athletes that came out to cheer, judge, count and time all the competitors. The leading lady of the day was JessT with the highest score for the women, including 100+ burpees and 30+ backsquats (at 3/4 BW)! Ladies beware, this dark horse will be a contender at this years Sectional/Regionals. Well done JessT! The race for the men was close, but Sweeney took the highest score by a few reps, and only a couple reps shy of breaking 400! Hound of a showing Sweeney - well done! Hound Pound is already looking forward to OPT #2!!

  1. Welcome to the Pound Brent. We look forward to hearing from you. For those of you unfamiliar of Brent, he is a Crossfit beast from Colorado.

Where is Brian and Dan? Only a couple of days left to become a follower for the September T-shirt draw. You just squeaked in! Nice work!!!
