LESS THAN A WEEK!!
OMG! I can’t believe the Games are less than a week away. The five days since my last update are almost a blur - time is really getting away from me. I know I’ve said it before, but I’m so excited for the Games to be over, and for the Hound Pound (and me) to get back into regular (fun) training – no stress. Post Games the HP will be prescribing lots of bike rides and outdoor swimming. Can’t wait! Let me try to remember where the week went. Tuesday was 1RM snatch and 400M runs. I was too tired to do this before work and then ran out of time after work, so I only worked on snatch - got close to 1RM then failed, then took off weight and failed. So frustrating! Then I had an unbelievable massage (yes, this is why I didn’t have time for the 400’s – I think it was a good decision though). The Hound Pound is neighbors to a wicked massage therapist that does massages on location. If I didn’t already use up all my benefits for massage for the year, I’d probably be there every week. I have to blame Sectionals and Regionals for using up all my massage credits! Moving on…Wednesday was a double. Part one was HPC, bench press and C2B pull-up – short and sweet. It was nice to have a wod that could be done in an hour. Part two was three, five min wods of couplets and triplets involving mu’s/box jumps/double-unders, running/cleans/push press, and ring dips and GHD sit-ups. The ring dips and mu’s were hard and slow – fatigue set in fast. Today was an “off day” training-wise. The evening consisted of hound walking and food preparation, as usual. Thursday was a day of rest - wod-wise, but not from work. Work is insanely busy and stressful these days. I had to work late, but at least I didn’t have to come home to the food prep ritual. Hound Pound neighbour’s C&K (fellow CrossFitters) had me over for a delicious dinner consisting of roast chicken and fresh greens from their garden. So good! The weather was nice and we ate outside. Great food, great company, great little evening. C&J have an amazing garden, and the Hound Pound would really like to have one too. We’re going to look into getting a community plot for next year. Friday was a day off work, thanks to the Stampede parade. This, I think was the hottest day we’ve at all year. I love the heat! Spent the day outside with the Hound’s grandparents building and painting the HP front fence. We decided to replace it after Lucy was ripped through the wood fense and beat up by “bully” the bull dog a couple of months ago (Jefff had to kick Bully in the head for him to relase Lucy from his jaws. Crazy hey?). Hounds are excited to be able to spend time in the front yard again, and know they’re safe from the neighbourhood bullies. Friday afternoon LTP and I braved the heat and did some trail and hill runs at Sandy Beach. Running felt hard today, but the reward was a dip in the river. Wow, was the river cold! And that brings us to today (Saturday). Double wod today, single on Sunday, and the arrival of Jefff back to the Pound, hopefully for good! We leave soon. Crazy!! Stay tuned for updates from the weekend.
